"...You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 NRSV
First Baptist Church endeavors to fulfill Christ's command by consistently ministering to the church family; seeking out and meeting needs of Albemarle and Stanly County neighbors; and engaging in mission outreach to the wider world. Whether in times of sickness, grief, and need, or in times of joy and celebration, the First Baptist family seeks to "be [His] witnesses."

WEEKEND BACKPACKS FOR HUNGRY CHILDREN
The Community Missions Committee is partnering with the Missions/Outreach Committee of Central United Methodist Church to establish a backpack ministry at East Albemarle Elementary School.
Many children from area schools have little or nothing to eat when they leave school on Friday until they return to school on Monday morning.
This past Friday, First Baptist provided backpacks for 30 children; alternating weeks with Central Methodist, we will have the opportunity to provide for 3 more weeks before school is out. Each bag costs about $7.50; designated donations are welcome and can be sent to the church office.
Volunteers will be needed to pick up empty backpacks, to purchase food, repack the backpacks, and to deliver the bags to the school. If you are interested in helping, please contact Linda Carter
