Who is Jesus to you?
Who is Jesus to you?
That question lies at the heart of our faith.
A Christian is someone who belongs to Jesus—someone who answers his call, “Follow me.” To understand what it means to be a Christian, we must first understand who Jesus is.
Some imagine Jesus as a kind of Superman—so divine and powerful that he seems distant and untouchable. Others see him mainly as a great moral teacher whose words are inspiring but perhaps unrealistic. As Christians, we affirm a deeper truth: Jesus is both fully divine and fully human. We see who he is by what he did—healing the sick, lifting up the poor, and showing compassion to the hurting. In him, we glimpse God’s ultimate compassion for the wounds we carry in our souls.
All of us have hurting souls. Our imperfections—our sin—create loneliness, angst, and separation from God. Jesus came to heal that deepest hurt. Through his death, the only perfect life was offered for our sake, bridging the gap our sin created. And through his resurrection, God showed that his love and power are greater than anything that separates us from him. Jesus freely offers forgiveness and new life—the gift of a loving God.
We were created for intimacy with God through Jesus. He is not a distant deity or merely a wise teacher. He is our Savior, the one who stands with us, rescues us from our sin, and calls us into a life of purpose—sharing his love with the world.
So, who is Jesus to you? Only you can answer that. But we can say this with confidence: Jesus loves us completely and invites us to follow him. If you want to learn more or talk about your faith, our ministerial staff would be honored to walk with you.
